From MLB.Com Scouting Report
Red Sox: The veteran knuckleballer will try to recover from a rough start in Oakland, when he gave up eight hits and eight runs over four innings. Wakefield said after that outing that there are some mechanical things he needs to work on. In six road starts this season, Wakefield is 1-2 with a 5.88 ERA. He is aiming for his first career win at Safeco Field, where he is 0-2 with a 3.73 ERA in six outings. In fact, Safeco is the only American League venue Wakefield has never won in.
Mariners: The left-hander got his wish and worked with backup catcher Jamie Burke in his last start, hoping to duplicate his previous start when he allowed just two runs over seven innings and struck out 10 in a game against the Padres. But the tandem did not click against the Yankees as Bedard was pummeled for eight hits and nine runs in less than five innings. In 11 career starts against the Red Sox, the lefty has a 4-4 record and 4.95 ERA.
As usual all statistics were found at the day by day database at Baseball Musings and this year at Baseball Reference.

A .172 BA, yeah, my team has lost 4 out of 5 and that is what I want to see from my offense. Does the word Fugly ring a bell?

The vagaries of the Knuckleball, 3-8 for Tim, and yet his ERA is not that far different then his career ERA. Still, you have to like the fact that he goes out and gives this team almost 7 innings per start vs the Mariners. Hey, we are grasping at straws here!

Not a good outlook when you compare the two pitchers this year. Bedard has Tim beat in just about everything. Fugly!!!
