From MLB.Com Scouting Report

Red Sox: Matsuzaka hasn't been sharp in his last two starts, giving up 19 hits and 11 runs over 11 2/3 innings. Two starts ago, Matsuzaka was dealing with a bad case of the flu. But there was no clear answer for his troubles against the Indians, when he was hit around for 12 hits and six runs over 5 2/3 innings. This will be Matsuzaka's first career appearance vs. Oakland. In five road starts, Matsuzaka is 4-1 with a 3.77 ERA.

A's: Promoted from his long-relief role to become Oakland's eighth different starting pitcher of the season, DiNardo threw the ball well -- 5 1/3 innings, four hits, two walks, three strikeouts, one unearned run -- on Wednesday against the Rangers but made one of two Oakland fielding miscues in the sixth inning, allowing the Rangers to score three unearned runs on the way to a 4-0 victory. It was DiNardo's first big-league start since Sept. 14, 2006 -- when he was with the Red Sox.

As usual all statistics were found at the day by day database at Baseball Musings and this year at Baseball Reference.

Actually not a lot of stats to find for this game. Only three Red Sox players have ever faced Lenny. Coco, Lugo and Hinske, combined they went 3 for 7. Also this is the first time either pitcher has faced the other team.

Some team stats: The Sox have lost the last 5 games in Oakland after a victory on July 25, 2006…This is Boston’s longest losing streak here in Oakland since 8 defeats in a row, July 4, 1987-August 31, 1988. (from the press pass).

Boston is 9 and 5 vs lefties starters this year (2 and 2 last four starts).

Enough for now. Chow!
