Idle thoughts

Its a good thing the Sox won the first game, because you knew that this one was not going to go the Sox way when Coco was sitting at 2nd base with one out in the first inning and Ortiz (walk), Ramirez (K - at least he swung at the ball) and Hinske failed to get him home to tie the game. 25 pitches for Smoltz in the first and that was as close as the Sox would get the rest of the game.

Still all in all, I will take the split. As I said in the preview, Smoltz owns the Sox so I am not surprised by this outcome. Tomorrow is another day and at least the Sox have faced Hudson. The good news is that the spankees lost at Shea and so they fall further back.
