From MLB.Com Scouting Report:

Red Sox: With starting pitcher Jon Lester soon to return and a combination of recent struggles -- he gave up six earned runs to the Blue Jays in 4 2/3 innings on Tuesday -- Tavarez is fighting to show that he belongs in the Red Sox's rotation. Boston's do-everything man would do well to recover in his next start, as the rest of the rotation did a little better in a stretch through the Yankees' and Blue Jays' lineups.

Yankees: Wang makes his second start of 2007 after coming off the disabled list to pitch Tuesday at Tampa Bay. The results, for a first time out, were solid enough, as Wang induced his trademark ground balls from the first inning on and gave New York 6 1/3 strong innings before reaching a predetermined pitch count. A good sign for the Yankees: Wang would have stayed in the game longer, which they may ask him to do in this game.

As usual all statistics were found at the day by day database at Baseball Musings and this year at Baseball Reference.

This game is the perfect game to give Lowell a day off as he is batting a meager .214 against Wang and it would be good to let him relax so he will stop making errors, also Hinske owns Wang. Actually, this line up would be outstanding from the plate.

Tavarez numbers are from last year. Wang went 2 and 2 last year against the Sox in 5 starts.

The spankees finally won a game vs the Sox and have their ace on the mound. Sinkerballer vs Sinkerballer, the question is which one will be able to keep the ball in the park and on the ground. Hopefully, Hinske will be playing which will give the Sox a better chance of beating up on this guy.
